ROLE
Art Director: Christine Taylor
Whoever made up the phrase "it takes a village" knew what they were talking about. In fashion editorial and advertising my teams are at their largest. I would like to give a special thanks for the support of the hundreds of designers who have contributed to my personal projects. The list below is for the gif you see here.

Challenge

For the past 10+ years, my side hustle has been art directing conceptual fashion projects for gallery exhibitions and magazines around the world. You can say fashion and style are definitely two of my passions. My sweet spot is when they come together to help others, educate, show the female gaze, and/or challenge social norms.
Since being based in Portland means I am not in a high-demand location to maintain a fashion career, I use this interest as a way to stay connected to my personal creativity. Sometimes I'm hands-on with shooting and set building, while sometimes I direct others. On personal projects, I always come up with the ideas, the overall style and conduct final sign off. The process is a collaborative group effort between talents.
Insights
• All areas of creativity are influenced by fashion and art, so keeping a foot in these industries is key to maintaining my knowledge of trend, ideas, and new ways of thinking.
• To stay relevant, it's important to stay connected to the larger creative dialog of the international and national creative points-of-view.
• My creative heroes all release personal projects not associated with a specific client.
Solution

Maintain relationships with artists, designers, illustrators, producers, stylists, art directors, HMU, photographers, videographers and writers who produce work within the fashion scope and who live around the world. Stay engaged and learning from hyper-creative talent, while watching career growth, and waiting for the ideal project to ask them to collaborate with me on.
